The excursion route goes around the central part of the city. You will start with exploring the historic downtown of Kharkov – “Universitetskaya Gorka” (University Hill) where the history of the city has begun according to the old manuscripts. Then you will see a lot of monuments connected with both the past and the present times of Kharkov: from the legendary foundation of the city to present days. Kharkov (Kharkiv) in World War II

This excursion is dedicated to the tragic page in the history of our city. From October 1941 to August 1943 Kharkov was occupied by German fascists. You will start with attending the thematic exposition in Kharkov Historical Museum, then visit Memorial to the Victims of World War II in Kharkov Woodland Park, Polish Memorial Cemetery, Drobitsky Yar (the place of mass execution of civil citizens of Kharkov).

Poltava

2. You will learn about the life and works of famous Ukrainian writers who lived in Poltava visiting museums of P. Myrny, I. Kotliarevsky, V. Korolenko.
3. You will visit Ukrainian churches in Poltava.
4. You will make a sightseeing tour to the town of Dikanka mentioned in the famous "Evenings on a Farm near Dikanka" by Nikolai Gogol. You will admire the nature of this area as it is really beautiful.

Krasnokutsk Arboretum

If you stay in Kharkov for a while and have free time, we advise you to make this countryside excursion to the town of Krasnokutsk where you will visit the arboretum which contains unique collection of flora and fauna species brought from Japan, China, America, Canada, Germany, France and many other countries. You will also visit the arts museum in Parkhomovka village. This village is located right at the junction of three regions of Ukraine – Sumy, Poltava and Kharkov. And this little village has the amateur arts museum well known in world arts circles. The museum holds about 6 thousand pieces of art – original paintings of Rerih, Vrubel, Picasso, Van Dyck, Benois, Kiprensky, Levitan…
